Rikki’s first love was a firefighter and after he died, she decided to protect her heart by pouring her desires into the novels she writes. When research on her latest book brings her to a firehouse, she’s determined to keep it professional, but these men are too hot and charming to resist. And when firefighters Simon and Carter make it clear they’re willing to help her fulfill her steamiest fantasies, Rikki realizes she’s going to lose more than just her cool.
As Simon and Carter help Rikki unlock her desires, she finds herself falling for both men. But how can she give them her heart when they can’t promise she won’t lose them too?
This was a quick read for me. I go back and forth between Carew’s books, I either love them, or I’m on the fence with them. This is one of the on the fence reads.
I really enjoyed the story between Simon, Carter and Rikki. I thought that the chemistry between the 3 of them was just off the walls good. I couldn’t get enough of that. However, I just couldn’t really connect with Rikki. While I do understand the pain and suffering that she has went through, it seemed like she just wouldn’t let herself move past it.
I do give Simon and Carter props, they did try their hardest, and even when one of them walked away – they did it because they thought it was for the best for Rikki. (I won’t add which one simply because it is a spoiler.)
Overall though – this book was packed with smoking hot firefighters, and a fair bit of smutty times that you do expect from a book by Carew.
I’d say that if you’re looking for a firefighter book, then check this one out.
