Detective Jack Mitchell is not a people person. After fourteen years dealing with the monsters of society, he has learned to keep people at arm’s length. Failing is his biggest frustration, and on the case of his career, he is having no luck hunting down a copycat serial killer…or the one man who survived the original case.
Six years ago, Will Blaikie was taken by a monster who changed his life forever. Narrowly surviving, he has become a prisoner in his own home. Friendless and alone, he watches in horror as a new monster emerges who only wants to copy the murderous deeds of Will’s monster…including taking Will.
After being a survivor of a serial killer, Will is living a lonely yet safe life. He has had a few years to start his recovery. I immediately wanted to just put my arms around him, he brings out that feeling throughout the story. When he meets up with Jack in his corner what could go wrong.
Jack is the rough, rude, and dedicated to finding the killer! When he meets Will his non-existent emotions come in to play. Jack is mesmerized by Will, he is calm, shy, and good looking. He has overcome so much yet this new killer is putting Will back in the middle of danger.
As Jack and Will struggle through the problems of this case, their emotions become stronger and overcome their common sense. A true love story starts. This is not your everyday run of the mill love either, it is messy and dangerous. Trouble seems to walk in their footsteps but the outcome makes them stronger.
A wonderful story that I will read again!
