His strength, his masculinity brought out something primal within her. In his arms, she felt like the Amazon warrior she’d once pretended to be as a little girl.
Anson is a fierce Dragon King, a dragon shapeshifter born and bred to protect his own. But when a rogue tech company hacks into their world, he must join forces with the unlikeliest of allies: a human female. Her name is Devon Abrams. A rising star at the firm, she has no idea that her boss is in league with the sinister Fae and their secret war against humanity. If Anson gains her trust, he can defeat the enemy from within. But first he must fight his own attraction–to this exquisitely beautiful mortal…
Devon loves her job at the firm. But sometimes she wishes she could find a man–a real man–who isn’t threatened by her success. When she first meets Anson, she’s overwhelmed by his powerful masculine presence and disarmingly gorgeous smile. But when he reveals his true mission–and his ability to transform into a dragon–she’s irresistibly drawn into an epic battle between humans and immortals, magic and technology, danger and desire. Anson vows to protect her from the Fae. But can he control the flames of passion that blaze within his heart, in Blaze, the next sexy Dragon romance in the Dark Kings series from New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant.
I will confess I was a bit reluctant to read Anson’s story. All I knew about him was that he once supported Ulrik in his quest to destroy humans and that he was overly occupied with his need to find his sword. However, I decided to give the guy a chance since he did go back to Dreagan and he didn’t rejoin Ulrik. Plus, I needed to know what was happening with my girl, Rhi, so I jumped into Blaze head first ready to find out where all my favorite characters were at and to learn more about the Dragon King named Anson.
Anson won me over quickly and destroyed my reluctance with how protective he was with Kinsey, Esther and Devon. Devon also really brought out the better side of Anson. Their unexpected magical melding was a great addition to their love story. Devon is probably one of the most interesting mates we have met so far in the series. I’m hoping she is able to tap more into her ancestral connection to Druid Warriors and become one herself. It would be awesome to have her fighting combat wise alongside the Dragons without Anson’s direction. Speaking of warrior mates that scene with Esther and Nikolai. I’m not going to delve too far into it but I cannot wait to read which direction that budding friendship turns as well as Henry’s reaction to it.
Rhi, Oh Rhi, just when I give up on any notion that perhaps Con and Rhi aren’t meant to be together, new information is revealed and Con goes and changes my mind about the entire situation. Those two are frustrating. Yet I cannot get enough of them. When those two finally get back together (they better get back together!!) I am going to cheer and celebrate with a big glass of wine. Rhi deserves to have the love of her life and finally come into her own as the powerful leader of the Light that she is obviously meant to be.
This book was an exciting ride with the introduction of a mysterious and powerful new baddie Druid. It is the eleventh book in an ongoing series so the book contains a large cast of characters and connects to a larger plot but it is a good stand-alone romance. However, if you do want to know more about the world of Dragon Kings, dark and light fae, ancient Gods, chosen warriors and Druids I encourage you to read not only the other books in this series but Donna Grant’s other series which provide further detailed stories of some of the group of characters lightly touched on the Dragon King Series. Have fun reading. You will enjoy the ride Grant takes you on in each story and you will appreciate the magic of her storytelling. Anson and Devon will woo you and you won’t regret giving the Dragon King and his mate a chance to entertain you.
