Chasing Booty by Shannon Leigh #mf #review @loveunleashed

When the law can’t catch the most wanted criminals, they hire Gaelyn. Extensive training in weaponry, hand-to-hand combat, and adverse conditions have seasoned her into a formidable opponent to any contracted hit, male, female, alien, or human. She has little fear of the unknown and thrives on adventure.

Only one other hunter matches her status, Reese, a Trøndite from the small planet of Sør-Trøndalag in the Capricornus Sector. The man has a knack for stealing her contracts. Both cunning and gorgeous, the mix doesn’t seem quite fair. But attractiveness holds little power over money. He’d beaten her out of a half-year’s pay a scarce three months ago. She’d be damned if he’d outwit her again.

Thinking she’s duped him back on Jupiter, Gaelyn is furious when she runs into Reese on Quaoar at the Blue Moon, an authentic hole-in-the-wall bar tucked at the end of a narrow alley; just the place to find her contracted hit. He not only has the information she needs to find her mark, he’s got a business proposal that’s too tempting to pass up. A partnership with Reese just might prove rewarding in ways she never expects. There’s nothing like chasing a little bounty booty together.

This was such a fun book! It has all the things I love in a sci-if romance: Great leading characters, strong kick-ass female, and true aliens. So often the “aliens” in sci-fi romances might as well be  humans with different colored skin. Here, we had other characters who were truly alien and drawn in such a way that I could easily imagine what they looked like. Plus the planet and conditions that weren’t hospitable to the MCs was another thing I loved. The prose drew this vibrant picture of the universe Gaelyn and Reese lived in.  (I’m obviously one of those who loves a well-built sci-fi world.) *Grins*

Gaelyn is my kind of girl and I loved her banter and oneupmanship between her and her rival Reese, the Trondite. The heat between the two was awesome and I suspected that Reese was put to more than he’d let on. The read was quick but the story felt complete. This is a couple I would love to see again on another adventure. I’ve never read Shannon Leigh before but I will defiantly be looking for more from her. Highly recommend to those who love a good but quick sci-if romance.
