Like a Lover (Housemates, #2) by Jay Northcote @jay_northcote #mm #review

Josh has a plan: get through uni with a good degree and no debts. Focused on his goals, he’s working as an escort to pay his way. He enjoys the no-strings sex and doesn’t have the time or inclination for a relationship. Falling in love definitely isn’t part of the deal—especially not with a client.

When Rupert meets Josh in a bar, he’s smitten on sight. He’s never paid for sex before, but when Josh propositions him, he can’t resist. He should have known one night would never be enough. Luckily for him, he has an inheritance to support his addiction to Josh, because his job in IT wouldn’t cover the cost.

With each appointment the lines get increasingly blurred. Something is developing between them that feels more like a relationship than a business transaction, but they come from different worlds and to go from client-and-escort to lovers seems impossible. If they want a future together, Josh and Rupert have a lot to overcome.

This book is a complete story and can be read as a standalone.

Number two in the series, but can be read as standalone.

First thing that caught my attention, well maybe not the first thing but what I noticed, even though we ‘speak’ about the housemates this is Josh and Rupert’s story. So, if read first or what I’ve found with the series, out of order, it’s fine, you may want to read book one first, just to get the players. After that, doesn’t matter.

Josh, didn’t see that coming.

I must be honest here, I never read a blurb by Jay, I just get the books, so if the blurb told us what Josh did for money, great, I didn’t know.

So, Josh and Rupert met in a bar. It’s insta lust for both, and what we all get after is a fairy tale romance of these two wanting, not allowing, self-discovering and in the end simply believing.

But of course, along that path we hit ever bump, lump, road hazard that we could.

This story was longer than the first so we got more depth, but the same sweet, I’m not worthily, can we teach each other? Storyline as the first. But with two very different characters.

Josh, openly gay uni student older than most, because he’s doing everything on his own. And Rupert, an IT guy, very comfortable, but with a family life that needs to be talked about with someone that loves him.  Together they work.
