Welcome to the Breaker (Exile, Volume 1) Blog Tour and Giveaway! We’re both super excited about this new release and thrilled to be able to share it with you. Throughout this tour, we’re going to be introducing many of the characters within, and associated with, Exile’s bizarre shores, as well as introducing Exile itself. Then we’re going to top that off with a quick little teaser.
However, before we get into any of that we wanted to remind you that we’ve got a couple of awesome giveaways going along with the tour so be sure to read through to the end to find out how you could win either a Silver-plated Starfish Anklet (just by leaving a single comment!), or the grand prize of a signed, print copy of Breaker, a coordinates bracelet with the Believe. Seek. Prove. reminder so you can always find your way back to the island of Exile, and a $20 gift certificate to the Less Than Three Press book market.
Kelly Wyre: “…keep on hopin’ for… cake by the ocean…”
AF Henley: I think we get that somewhere around chapter five, right?
The Character Discussion
KW: So. Let’s talk about the cranky side of the Island Kings.
AFH: *whispers* Which side is that, exactly? Because all your characters are so cranky, these days…
KW: SO OBERON. Not Oberson. But OBERON. Like the fairy king. And he’d just looooove me for that reference.
AFH; One typo. ONE TYPO. (Speaking of cranky, folks…)
KW: IT WAS WAY MORE THAN ONE. Where’s that Hades .gif when I need it?
AFH: Son comes easily to my fingertips when I’m typing, I guess. Especially when writing gay romance. You know… “Come here, son. Daddy’s—”
KW: I just have no words. I mean, I do have them, just…
AFH: I mean the terms figuratively, not literally!
KW: Anyway. The CHARACTERS. THE CHARACTERS, Henley. Oberon. Island King. Redhead. Firebrand. Healer. Serious badass dude.
AFH: Ohh, yeah. Him. I like him.
Eddie was more than sure he wouldn’t have had the same confidence if he’d been the one staring down an outsider who was potentially lethal, and Kaeva obviously had way, way more experience with just how lethal an Estrangement could get. Which meant that Kaeva was either extremely self-confident or stupid, and from what he’d seen so far, Eddie wasn’t willing to lay down credits on the idea that Kaeva was stupid.
When Eddie spoke again, his voice was oddly bright for the statement. “He’s probably going to kill me.”
Oberon parted his lips in almost kiss-like fashion, and then sucked a breath of air between his teeth. “I hope not.” He reached over and patted Eddie’s shoulder with a short, casual double tap. “And you should probably run. I mean that literally. He not only has a decent lead, but he also outpaces you.”
Maybe it was just exhaustion catching up with him, but the emotion under Oberon’s expression told Eddie that the man would insist, and that if insisting didn’t work… Well, Eddie was pretty sure Oberon would make it work. Using any tool he had at hand. That was another concept that should have had warning bells going off in Eddie’s head, but was, instead, inciting a mesmerizing need to know.
These people, this island, were positively beguiling.
“I don’t think—”
“He’s not nearly as mean as he sounds.”
Eddie shrugged off Oberon’s attempt at appeasement. “I wasn’t going to say I wouldn’t go,” Eddie explained. “I was going to say I don’t think running is possible quite yet.” He waved at his legs, and even that range of motion felt sloppy and disjointed. “Moonzilla is good at what she does.”
Oberon’s frown softened. “Zunella.”
“Ah, yes.” Eddie nodded. “Well, unless Zoomhella has more tricks up her sleeve—”
“You’ll manage,” Oberon said firmly. He held Eddie’s gaze for an uncomfortably long second. “You have to.”
“Well, there we go then.” Eddie lifted one foot and set it back down, testing his ability. In all honesty, the sluggish feeling was dissipating fairly quickly. He flashed Oberon a smile. “You wouldn’t have anybody around here who can fly, would you?”
Oberon looked up at the sky—perhaps checking the distance of the sun, Eddie thought. Or testing the wind, or calling flocks of butterflies. “You seem to be doing that quite nicely on your own, Mr. Florence.”
Eddie snorted. “Up, up and away, then.”
Oberon’s cheeks twitched, half a tic shy of a smile. “On your way, Miss Lane. You’re losing sight of the Caped Crusader.”

In the wake of several near-cataclysmic events, humanity created the Cure, a DNA-altering antidote to death by disease and old age. But all cures come with side effects: a small percentage of the population develops a wide range of powers, some of which are lethal to others, and some which are lethal to the wielder.
These people are called the Estranged, hunted and shunned, safe only on the Island of Exile. It is here that Kaeva and Eddie meet—and where they set a prophecy in motion, quite possibly sealing their own demise, and even the end of Exile.
Genre: Gay, Urban Fantasy
Notes: contains some explicit content and includes thoughts and discussions of past and potential suicide

Henley was born with a full-blown passion for run-on sentences, a zealous indulgence in all words descriptive, and the endearing tendency to overuse punctuation. Since the early years Henley has been an enthusiastic writer, from the first few I-love-my-dog stories to the current leap into erotica. A self-professed Google genius, Henley lives for the hours spent digging through the Internet for ‘research purposes’ which, more often than not, lead seven thousand miles away from first intentions but bring Henley to new discoveries and ideas that, once seeded, tend to flourish.
