Undercover police officer Kell has crossed the line. He’s become trapped in an abusive relationship with his violent thug of a boss and sees no way back without wrecking months of work. The hope of ever being involved with someone who respects him seems a distant dream.
Private investigator Gethin is depressed that the bulk of his work involves following unfaithful partners. He knows just what it’s like to be cheated on. Even worse, his relationship with his ex is complicated and Gethin can see no way of breaking free of a guy who so desperately needs him.
A chance encounter brings Kell and Gethin together, entwining their lives with secrets and danger. They both have reasons to keep things casual. But there are consequences to zipless fucks. Not only do they have to survive people trying to kill them, they need to trust each other and keep their wits about them, while ensuring their hearts stay intact.
Wow, this was a super hard read.
Starts out dark and painful, not just the scene but when he leaves and visits his brother, you can tell all of his life the treatment he is getting. He partly feels like, fact of life.
You have two stories going on in the beginning, than they meet. Neither person should know each other but are ‘Drawn In’ and can’t help it!
Kell is an undercover cop working a case that has turned dark and dangerous. He knows mentally it’s doing him in, but if you read between the lines you can see why he is keeping with it.
Gethin, himself is going through a ton of stuff. He has an ex-BF that is paralyzed, w/amnesia. And wants to die, everyone has given up on his except Gethin. Who has pretty much bankrupted himself and sent himself into depression dealing with him.
Then we have several others that play a huge part in the book, from the A-hole brother, the bad guys, the best friend and more.
We’ve several stories going on. Kell and his undercover, which bleeds into Gethin and the P.I he’s hired for. So while they are learning each other and solving that we are whisked along with them, and it’s a huge thrill. Never quite know who’s going to jump out next.
But under that we’ve got Gethin and Kell working together on being together. But first Gethin has to figure out the ex-BF. I have to be honest; this is part of the story that threw me. Didn’t we have enough going on w/o throwing in a BF of this magnitude?
But besides that once again B.E. did a marvelous job. And gave us an ending that made me cry, sad, happy tears with a wonderful HEA.
