New Vampire Justice: Book One
With pain and loss in their pasts and evil threatening their futures, two vampires will find a love that lasts forever… if they dare.
Carson Locke is dangerous, even by vampire standards. A rare Tabula Rasa vampire, he can wipe the minds of those he bites–human or vampire. Because of this, he’s lived his entire life in isolation. When his family is murdered, Carson runs from those who want him dead. Injured, starving, and about to be executed, he meets Commander Lincoln Samuels, an officer in the New Vampire Justice police force.
Lincoln, a Sanatore vampire, possesses the gift of healing. The moment he encounters Carson, broken and terrified, trying to steal blood to survive, he is compelled to help the other man–despite the risk to himself. Their bond creates something the world has never seen, but others have plans for Carson, and his destiny was written long before he was born. He’ll either become a tool to control the vampire world, or, with Lincoln by his side, find the courage to fight and become its savior.
This is my second time reading this story. I read it the first time when it was published by a different pubs house. Before accepting it again, I was informed it was reedited and words added.
And I can’t tell you which parts, but I can tell you the story over all seemed more complete somehow better rounded. The characters, even though, we know at the end we’ve still have more story to come, they feel that at least at that point they are done.
We start with a young man on the run, he’s witnessed what he assumes is a triple tragedy at his home. At his last resort he tries to get into a blood bank for blood, knowing a secret about himself that no one else knows. Lincoln, the head of security understands the situation and the depth of trouble they are getting into fast. As the characters fall into place and the story develops we quickly realize that this is not a story you’ve read before. And we get swept into intrigue, family drama, first love, old love, new love, friendship lost and found. And that’s just some of the characters. We also have the why, why is this happening, how are we going to stop it, if it!
Lincoln and Carson are the two people that shouldn’t fit but do. They know to stay away but can’t. They are explosive. Max, love him, such a sad case, holding it together by a tread until he finds his soul. Can’t wait for that story, we are left with a HFN. And I can’t wait for the next round.
When I started reading this book I was expecting it to be similar to others I have read, I was happily mistaken.
I felt immediately for Carson, growing up sheltered and alone except for his family, now on his own after the second major emotional trauma in his life, he is forced to do something he would never do. It finds him in a dangerous situation with the New Vampire Justice (NVJ), the law enforcement agency.
Lincoln is called out as supervisor when Carson is caught, he instantly feels something for Carson and notices how malnourished he is. When he doesn’t get better, Lincoln donates blood weird changes start.
The bonding of these two has been for told, Carson is destined for greatness. With Lincoln by his side he can be the savior of his people. With so many changes going on so quickly Carson is afraid of going crazy. Lincoln is the only safe spot in the sea of madness for Carson, when that is threatened Carson will do whatever is necessary to make sure they stay together.
The cast of characters are great! There is intrigued, betrayal, love, family, and pure evil. Lincoln and Carson seem like an odd couple but their strengths and weaknesses line up perfectly.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series to come out!
