She reached out to him. He took her hand and brought it to his mouth for a gentle kiss. At that moment, she knew she wanted him in her bed and in her body.
“I want you to be sure, Kendra, because if I don’t leave now, I’m going to be here for a long time. I don’t want you to have any regrets.”
Kendra looked directly into his eyes. “You only need to feel the way my heart is pounding to understand that I want you. Right here. Right now.”
He sat on the side of the bed and gently pulled the covers down below her hips. She watched his lips part and heard him moan softly as he looked at her body. He stroked her breasts ever so gently and then rubbed his thumbs around and over her nipples. Kendra shivered in response and then reached up to unfasten his tunic.
“I want to feel your flesh, too. I want you to be as naked as I am.” She ran her hands up and over the contours of his bare chest and then back down again past his waist, until she felt the hard ridge of his desire.
Valon quickly sucked in a breath. “I wanted you from the first moment I saw you; even though you infuriated me with that smart mouth of yours.”
Kendra smiled at the memory of their first encounter. “Actually, I wanted you even before I saw you in person. I found myself staring at the holos of you I’d been given to review. I kept looking at your mouth and thinking about how it would feel to have it on me.”
Valon cupped her breasts in his hands and gently squeezed. “I think we should find out right now.”

Excerpt from STILL LIFE by JAYNE FURY
“It’s been a long day,” Ewan said.
“Full of surprises,” she forced a grin. No matter how hard she tried to deny it, he was getting to her. His boyish grin. His mass of red curls and matching beard that framed sincerity in his shining green eyes. And his gentle soul that took her by surprise and cradled her like a lost kitten.
“Yes.” He pursed his lips as though he was about to say something but his eyes darted down to his plate.
“You know… we… there’s… it’s cold in here.”
“And?” She prompted.
“And the captain’s quarters is very large…”
“I hear it has a large bed.” Jody added.
“Very comfortable.” He nodded.
“Great for combining body heat.”
Standing up, she put her hand out to take his. “Take me there.” She whispered.
Their eyes met. She could barely see the beautiful green of his eyes for the ever-widening pupils. At that moment she didn’t feel alone. For once, she was truly with someone. Someone who cared about her. And that hadn’t happened since Tiva Oa. His hand reached for hers…
Jayne Fury writes pulpy serials about bodice ripping ninjas in space. But you knew that!
Poor Jayne. Stuck between the 1920s and the “boldly go” future. But one never knows when one will fall into a time vortex. Look at Edgar Allen Poe. Totally a time traveler.
One must always be prepared.
Jayne was educated in New York by Polish nuns. Her father was a Boy Scout leader (see above preparedness motto). She moved to the West Coast as soon as she could because she’s left handed and claustrophobic. Seriously, it makes sense. Ever sit next to a lefty in a restaurant? Jayne went to university in Rome where she developed her lifelong love of shoes. She has walked across Spain. Twice. Shoes. Preparedness. It’s all related. Trust me.
She lives on her urban farm in the Pacific Northwest with cats, chickens, ukulele, and extremely tolerant husband.

Excerpt from LIGHT UP THE DARK by SELENE GRACE SILVER
Nadiah checked the stinger’s landing coordinates to ensure she was approaching the correct port for her arrival—a different port than her parents’ scheduled flight plan. She didn’t want them to discover she’d taken a solo jaunt dirtside without their permission until after she returned to the ship. Especially with her father, it was much easier to seek forgiveness than obtain permission, as she and her siblings had learned.
This personal journey was long overdue, though. She was 20, old enough to make her own decisions and act independently of her parents. Plus, she’d decided that it was the only way she was ever going to have sex. Her native urge to mate had roused itself into a subtle sense of constant agitation. But every guy she’d met recently treated her like she was still a child or had some kind of vile skin disease, thanks to her father’s interfering telepathic powers. The fact that no guy was ever going to meet Galen of the KhaRya’s standards was further complicated by the way he blithely read and controlled even the most determined prospective mates’ minds.
Checking the controls once more, which were efficiently managed by the stinger’s AI, she clamped a dream sleeping mask over her eyes and ears and reclined the seat just as the stinger was entering the planet’s atmosphere. Like her human mother, she tended to get motion sickness on these zoom landings so, to avoid developing nausea, she left the stinger to guide itself into port safely while she distracted herself with music and beautiful images. A moment later…
Clank. Bang. The stinger jerked sideways just as warning lights flashed and its alarm blared. Nadiah ripped her face mask off and leapt out of her seat. But it was too late. The cabin was filling with the telltale green gas used by slave traders across the Alliance.
Want to escape? Selene Grace Silver writes contemporary, paranormal and science fiction romances that follow extraordinary characters on the path to love. She earned an MA in creative writing and is a member of the Romance Writers of America. Publishing romances since 2012, She believes in two true things: love and the power of stories.
Her science fiction series StarDaemon explores the love lives of a group of hybrid humanoids rebelling against institutional slavery during an intergalactic political collapse. Her paranormal series Witches and Warlocks of Los Angeles shadows modern day sorcerers who must master their powers to shift dimensional reality and find their soul mates, in order to defeat a centuries-old enemy. Finally, her contemporary romances follow lovers traipsing across the geographical and geological boundaries of the Western Hemisphere, from the sunny coasts of Southern California to the rainy Highlands of Scotland, to the frozen plains of the Upper Midwest to the cobblestone streets of Europe. No matter where Selene’s characters go, their journeys end in love.
