After a tragic accident, Lincoln West’s dreams of making it big as a guitarist fell apart. Unable to play music, he’s battling a hopeless downward spiral, and takes his friend’s offer to stay at their beach house for the summer. While at an open mike night at local bar Off Beat, he locks eyes with a busboy who doesn’t make Linc feel so broken anymore.
Emmett Westmore lives for the anonymity of busing tables in his aunt’s quirky bar where no one pities him for the fire that killed everyone he loved. He blames himself for the fire, and he doesn’t want anyone to see him—except for Linc. Emmett’s walls drop when he’s around the gorgeous blue-eyed guitarist, but he has a secret that could destroy his budding relationship with Linc.
In this story there are two main characters who are trying to overcome very different problems. They are perfect for each other if they can only figure it out.
Linc had everything going for him, then in a fraction of a second his whole life changed, now he must overcome his depression and other physical limitations and learn a way to connect with the music that is inside of him.
Emmett (Em) has to overcome his emotional issues, and he trys to avoid his issues. He meets a man who is everything he’s ever wanted now all he has to do is face the problems he has been running from.
I really can’t pick a character that I like more than the other. I love them both. They are well written and personable characters, that have been dealt a harsh hand by fate. As they learn to deal with their own limitations they also learn that together they make a stronger team. Life has taught each man that loving someone or something can cause pain. Now life is teaching them that love can also make them stronger together.
A wonderful story, with ups and downs, overall a strong story of love and emotional growth.
