Nothing can prepare Josiah Kimbrel for what he finds when he enters the compound of the River Wolf Pack. As an ambassador of the human-werewolf congress, Josiah is keen to build bridges between the two species. Josiah is surprised to see how ‘normal’ things look in the compound; the wolves, all of whom are gay, live in family units, complete with children, in houses built from local materials.
Then there’s River, the pack alpha. Josiah can’t deny his attraction to the handsome, dominant wolf man. Josiah’s world is further turned upside down when he unexpectedly goes into heat. He doesn’t understand — how can he be half-werewolf and an omega? River wants Josiah for his mate, but is Josiah prepared to leave everything he knows in the city and become first omega of a werewolf pack?
Interesting twist to a well played out story line.
I read a ton of shifter books, good, bad, short, long, doesn’t matter, and the animal, creature, person, thing, none of that matters. I will read it. So when I say, Good twist, it’s because I’ve not read it (or it’s been a while)
And this one is one of those.
Humans know, most are not happy and want to do away. Shifters stay to themselves and for good reason, very rarely venture into the city area of civilization.
Together, they have set up a counsel that is supposed to help keep the peace and bridge, mend the gap between the two worlds. Unfortunately, like most counsels it has a faction. And that faction wants to kill off the were’s.
Josh has been sent by the counsel to help understand, and bring back his findings. What he doesn’t count on is the intense attraction to the Alpha. River, has come to the conclusion he will not mate, until this human shows up. Then something changes.
This story shows us how two worlds can work together, and how people with in a community can work, help and hurt each other. The dynamics of all these players is so perfect.
How Josh is so very young and his upbringing and teachings have really confused him. His Uncle told him things, his friends another, and yet he’s living another. He’s confused and lashing out. Luckily, River is older and patient, It’s a good team.
My only issue is we are left with a HFN/cliffy. Luckily I have the second book loaded.
