This book is part of Paige Tyler’s Dallas Fire & Rescue Kindle World
Austin Reynolds always wanted to be a firefighter but an accident when he was 18 killed that dream. Life as a chef, creating wonderful spicy food, fills that void. His monthly visits to feed the hungry firefighters and paramedics of Station 58 help as well. On one of those visits, he meets someone and is instantly attracted.
FBI agent Conrad “Rad” Strauss is on the hunt for a serial killer who tortures and then burns his victims alive. While he rarely finds time for activities outside of work, the need to fulfill the Dom side of him takes him to a BDSM club where he and Austin find they have more than firefighting in common.
As their attraction heats up, so does the pressure from the killer known as The Artist. For he has his eyes on Austin and unless Conrad can stop him, his lover is about to go up in flames.
Okay, I liked the bones of the story, but didn’t get the fact that these FBI agents would just sprout out the case to a perfect stranger while driver said stranger, okay at that point they had, had dinner, and on there way to a BDSM club.
That’s just one example of why I couldn’t get into the grove of this book, several little things that left me scratching my head and saying huh, really?
However, to make up for it. I loved Austin, the undying commitment he has to the Firefighters and paramedics that saved his life.
How “Rad” was able to nourish and grow the relationship with Austin. Even though, people at the same club actually were rude to Austin for him having a disability. Really? How everyone from that Firehouse step up, how the owner and his sun looked out for everyone involved and wouldn’t stop until this crime was solved. All amazing parts.
Austin and Rad made a nice due, not sure if I got that warm, fuzzy connection I want to feel from reading. But I didn’t dislike it. And in the end they got the bad guy.
I am know for loving a guy in uniform. This story however is about a guy who’s dream of being that guy were changed forever. Yet when he had to change his plans he never forgot the heroes who saved him and countless others over the years, the Firefighters and Parametices.
While the story had some inconsistencies when compared to a real life FBI investigation, I can overlook them as this story would have to be much longer for the proper steps to be followed.
The genuine emotions that were played out between the main characters were amazing. I fell in love with Austin right away, he was just an amazingly strong person. The issues he had with finding a dom, just goes to show that it hard to find the right person even when you have the same type of interests.
I enjoyed this book, it was an entertaining read with engaging characters that kept you wanting to know what would happen on the next page.
“Austin, will it harm your leg if you reach back and hold your cheeks open for me?”
Another groan. “No, sir.”
“Then do so, boy.”
Austin bent over and spread his long fingers over that gorgeous flesh. As he pulled his cheeks apart, it was all Conrad could do to fight back his hard-on. He’d had his fair share of subs over the years ever since he happened upon a BDSM club and found out he loved taking control from someone who trusted him not to take it too far. The couple times he’d come across men who weren’t submissive but wanted to be abused, he’d backed off, though each incident had stayed with him over the years. But never, in all that time, had he had such a gut reaction to a man. He wanted Austin the man and Austin the boy.
Letting his breath out slowly and evenly, he reached forward and pressed the tip of the plug to Austin’s hole. There was the briefest amount of resistance and then it began to slide in. The thing was a good four and a half inches at its largest circumference and the further and further it went in, the harder he became. Shit that was hot, watching Austin stretch for him. A moan caught his attention. “Feels good doesn’t it, boy?”
“Yes, sir,” came the breathy reply.
Before it went all the way in, Conrad pulled it out slightly and pressed it in again, enjoying the sight in front of him as well as the sounds coming from Austin. He could have done this all night, but it was early and he definitely did not want his boy to start cramping up before the fun could truly begin. With a firm press, he pushed the plug all the way in, loving the view of Austin’s hole as it squeezed the plug into place. “All right, boy. Stand up and turn toward me.”
Austin slowly stood up straight, stretching his leg out as he did so. The expression on his face, though, was not one of discomfort, but of pleasure and happiness. Fully headed into submissive headspace. Good. But his cock was only a semi. “Get yourself hard, boy. I’ve got plans for that shaft. And enjoy it while you can. Because once you’re hard, you won’t be touching your dick for the rest of the night.”
Thianna Durston is a writer by day and supernova by night. Or at least that’s what the faeries tell her. And who is she to deny those pesky *cough* lovely little creatures?
She lives in the Pacific Northwest, though her heart belongs elsewhere. In the meantime, until she can return to the place she calls home, she happily lives in a city that still thinks it’s a small town. Thankfully, it has given her muse lots of amusing places to start a story.
