Charlie Cochet has been writing flash fiction about her wonderful series THIRDS weekly from fan prompts. In Beyond the Books: Volume 1, we get 26 flash fictions from THIRDS, 25 from fan prompts, and one special holiday one. Each piece is a miniscule look into the characters, that we haven’t seen in the books.

Yes we get Dex and Sloane, but we also get Dex as a little boy with his parents – and there is a huge hint in there of something that is an important part of the next book. We get some scenes with Seb and Hudson as well as Austin and Zach (you know, the bear Therian that shook Dex up on his first day because Dex ‘stole’ his cheesy doodles), Ash and Cael, and the ultimate scene I always wanted to see – Tony’s sex talk with a younger Dex.

It’s interesting to see some of these characters as they are in the flash fictions as we see Hudson and he seems different as the main character as opposed to the ‘stuff-upper-lip’ doctor he always comes across as in the books.

If you’re a THIRDS fan, a must have. If you’ve never read a THIRDS book, I suggest at least picking up the first one Hell and High Water before attempting to understand the tiny looks into the THIRDS world of Beyond the Books: Volume 1.
