Two women separated by decades. Both set out to help others find their dreams when their own have crumbled.
It’s the early 1930s, but Cora Scott is walking in stride as a career woman after having inherited her great aunt’s wedding shop in Heart’s Bend, Tennessee, where brides come from as far away as Birmingham to experience her famed bridal treatment. Meanwhile, Cora is counting down the days until her own true love returns from the river to make her his bride. But days turn into months and months to years. All the while, Birch Good continues to woo Cora and try to show her that while he is solid and dependable, he can sweep her off her feet.
More than eighty years later, former Air Force Captain Haley Morgan has returned home to Heart’s Bend after finishing her commitment to military service. After the devastating death of her best friend, Tammy, and discovering the truth about the man she loved, Haley is searching for her place in life.
When Haley decides to reopen the romantic but abandoned wedding shop where she and Tammy played and dreamed as children, she begins a journey of courage, mystery, and love.
I have to say – this book blew me away completely. To the point of where I informed my family members that they had to read this book.
I will add – this is the second book in the series, however I read it as a standalone, and didn’t have a problem following along with the story as it progressed. Hauck did a great job at keeping the books separate, yet she also mentions about the previous book. But, like I did mention, I didn’t have a problem following along whatsoever.
Now, back to this story. I loved how this book was literally two love stories in one book. While I’m not usually a fan of books that go back and forth in time, it really worked with this book and the story. Getting to follow along with both Cora and Haley was a great joy. There stories were completely different, yet at the same time they were identical.
It’s so hard for me to pick one thing that I really loved about this book because once I started it, I just couldn’t put it down at all. The story drew me in and I was so sad when I finished the book because I didn’t want it to end.
If your looking for a sweet romance, then this is the book for you completely. It will draw you in and keep you wanting more and more from the author.
