This was the blurb I read: “Cops, Cole and Morgan Caldwell, have always had to hide their love for each other from the outside world. They are content with each other until the night they rescued Robby. Beaten and left in an alley by a john, Robby has never known true kindness and soon falls for both men, but Robby’s got a problem. His pimp, Vince, isn’t ready to let him go. Can two cops love a prostitute or will Robby’s baggage be too much for them to carry?”

I got that this was a threesome. What the blurb didn’t tell me is that Cole and Morgan are biological brothers. Now the incest angle doesn’t bother me, but it might freak someone else out. That was not the problem I had with the story.

A story should be lived. It’s what they call ‘showing’ vs ‘telling’. This story was a lot of telling and skipping. It was like getting short scenes and then leaving out how one tied to the next. Robby came into Cole & Morgan’s life as a raped prostitute who hated cops. So what did the cops do? Lie to Robby about what they do for a living. Not only that, but Cole doesn’t force Robby to go to the hospital, even when it’s obvious he was raped badly and needs some medical intervention.

Add in the fact that Robby lives the high life in a very upper class apartment complex via his pimp and supposedly made a thousand dollars a day as a high-priced hooker…. And has only $13k to show for it – and acts like that is a lot of money. Again, makes no sense.

The overall story concept was believable and intriguing. The actual story was not. There was no reason given for Cole and Morgan to fall for Robby and yet… they did instantly. We never saw a progression of why they would fall for him. Or why they needed him in their life so much they were willing to turn their lives upside down to keep him. And I needed to see that to root for them as a threesome – instead it was skipped and went to another scene and then skipped more story and went to another scene.

I just never understood why the brothers would trust or love Robby. Nor did I understand Robby’s turnaround from being scared raped boy to lust-filled man a couple days later while basically saying ‘ah, that was my job. I’m fine. Who cares if a guy shoved a whisk and a rolling pin up my bum and ripped me apart? Sex me up, big boy.’
