For six months, Shea Murphy has been moving from city to city, attempting to distance herself from her failure as both a sub and wife following her husband’s suicide. With the loss of her Master’s strict discipline to keep her obsessive compulsive disorder under control, she’s finally driven to seek relief with another Dom. Entering The Warehouse, she has but one purpose, and that is to leave with a sore bottom which would relieve the unbearable stress—at least long enough to get her to her next destination, wherever that may be. She has absolutely no desire for anything from this incredible Dominant other than punishment, and fights with everything she has against revealing the true demons tormenting her so. However, after two sessions with Master Fin, her urge to flee Richmond subsides and she takes a temporary job at a restaurant.
Fin O’Dell returns after a week out of town to find the sub he couldn’t forget is now his newest employee. Catching her stressing in his kitchen after closing, his quick response of another blistering spanking gives her the relief she needs. Loving all women, Fin has happily played the field for years. He’s never found it difficult to send a submissive on her way after he’s helped her discover what she desires. But now the feisty lady sharing his home has him wondering if he, like his friends, has finally found the one woman who would capture his heart forever. As much as he is falling for Shea, he can not go further until she has learned to trust him in all ways. If that takes several trips over his lap or bound to apparatus at The Warehouse, so be it.
As Shea succumbs to Fin as a Master a little more each day, she struggles with her perceived guilt over her husband’s suicide, refusing to believe Fin’s insistence Gerard was not the man – or the Dom – she thought he was. When the truth comes out, she’s forced to ask herself: has she waited too long to trust Fin? Or will just one simple word be enough to put the past behind her and give herself without reservation to her new Master?
Unlike most series I’ve read, where the first book knocks it out of the ball park and as each book is released, the interest and intensity begins to fall, B.J Wane does the exact opposite. This author continues to raise the bar with each book in the series. Surrender to Me is an epic read on its own, but this book makes the Virginia Bluebloods series soar to the top of my most cherished series list.
As I have been reading all three books back to back, there has always been this strange feeling flowing through me. It felt like I had come back home or finally returned to the prized vacation spot that I dream about all year long. As I was finishing Surrender to Me, it finally dawned on me what that feeling was. If you were caught up in the new phase of BDSM books a few years back like I was, when the sexy Dom was not only an alpha but a protective caregiver, well welcome home with Virginia Blueblood series.
I have no shame in admitting I am totally in love with men like Fin O’Dell. He is part of the four guy pack of friends who all stuck together over the years as they tried to break away from their rich parents demands. Fin has an eating establishment that his father considers less than worthy of the family name. He also helps Dec at the Warehouse, a sex club that allows him to get his dirty kink on.
Shea Murphy is running from the haunting memories of rejection, betrayal and pain. After her much older husband dies she takes to the road, staying in places only a few weeks before she moves on. She also battles a mental issue that leaves her in a state of panic every minute of the day. The only thing that ever helped her was the pain her late husband would give her early in their marriage. Seeking out a quick fix, she finds herself at the Warehouse and face to face with Fin.
Her issues weren’t new to Fin, he has seen people with this before and it isn’t uncommon for him to take new subs or subs with fears and problems under his wing to guide them to till they could control their fears and submit to the feelings their Dom was providing, but something about Shea refused to let him just help and let go. No he needs to know the secrets she is holding and make her part of his life.
I had so many heart melting moments in this story. I didn’t think I could love a book more than Bind me to You but Fin and Shea shattered that theory with their story. Strong man who pays attention to every expression, muscle movement and knows the solution before the problem is stated, a woman who gives more than submission to her Dom, but also her trust and love as well no matter how much she has been hurt before, what more could we ask for in a book.
