Secrets and seduction make for an explosive combination in HelenKay Dimon’s edgy, thrilling new series, which kicks off with a novel about two men who can handle any threat—except the one posed by desire.
Fisher Braun knows how to keep a secret. As a covert paramilitary operative, his job—and his life—depends on it. He’s at the top of his game, ready for action and always in control. No enemy has ever brought him to his knees, but one lover has: Zachary Allen, the man currently sharing his bed. The perfect package of brains and brawn, Zach is someone worth coming home to, and Fisher hates keeping him in the dark about what he does. But the lies keep Zach safe. Until the day Fisher loses everything. . . .
Zachary Allen is no innocent civilian. Although he plays the tech geek, in reality he’s deep undercover for the CIA. In a horrible twist of fate, the criminal enterprise he’s infiltrated has set its sights on the man whose touch drives him wild. Zach would do anything for Fisher—except blow his own cover. Now, in order to save him, Zach must betray him first. And he needs Fisher to trust him with all his heart if they want to make it out alive.
Fisher is heartbroken when he finds out he has been double crossed by the man he loves. He finally let someone in to his heart, as much as he can with his life, and now all the love turns to hate and anger. He just can’t figure out how everything was just an assignment to Zach. Yet as he listens to his kidnappers talk about his relationship it doesn’t make sense, none of it is true. When Zach gets him out, Fisher treats him like a prisoner until it’s proven that he is actually undercover with the CIA.
Zach fell hard for Fisher, he spent all his down time and spare time with him. He was only supposed to meet and verified information, yet he just couldn’t let him go. He didn’t even know Fisher had been picked up until he walked in with his bosses to see him and a friend tied up. Zach had no choice but to get them out. Yet he knows he has probably lost the man he loves, and possibly his life. He risks every think, and is treated like a common criminal when he has been working for over a year to bring down the criminal element.
If you want to be guessing about who did it, and who the allies are. Will Fisher be able to work things out with the wonderful Zach? Or is it possible for them to live through the book, with the back stabbing, lying, and secrets between departments?
I started this book and never put it down, fell in love with Zach. He is dedicated, and true to his heart. Fisher has been through too much for him to not have major emotional scars. He doesn’t know how to open up to anyone, although he does try more answers more as you read on through this story. A really good read.
