He’s gonna have to beg for it…
Corinne was young once. She did everything—girls, boys, drugs, toys—and did it in high funky fashion. Reese wasn’t her first lover, but he was the first to submit to her. For a while they had something special, but it ended badly.
She’s a little older now. And the wealthy businessman who just bought the company she works for bears little resemblance to that boy. He’s commanding, domineering, and seems hell-bent on pushing her past her limits.
In a flash of anger, she falls back into their old pattern—and Reese falls right in with her. Before she knows it, she’s testing him. Then tasting him. But she can’t afford to get involved again. Her life is complicated enough without throwing in a slew of kink.
Now if only Reese would stop making her feel like the goddess she used to be…and showing her who’s been the boss all along. Then…and now.
Corinne and Reese were involved years ago. It was a Dom/sub relationship that ended badly, but she never forgot about “her boy” in all the years she was living her life. Until the company she works for is bought by a new owner who happens to be Reese, her boy. Reese has changed over the years and he is nothing like the boy she remembers. But, she can’t but feel a pull to the man he has become.
Ms. Hart manages to tell a fantastic story while creating a hot and steamy Dom/sub tale. While many authors usually portray the man as the Dom, it was refreshing to see the tables turned and have Corinne as the Dom in this story. While I found some of the details of this story difficult to read because of personal reasons, I enjoyed it nonetheless and was entertained. My attention to the story never wavered, even with the way the author went between past and present within the story. It never became confusing nor did it detract from the rest of the book. The twists and turns were enough to keep things fresh and different from many other erotic romance stories.
I definitely recommend this story to any reader that enjoys reuniting lovers, a strong heroine, and has time to read it from cover to cover in one sitting.
Megan Hart has a flare for taking an ordinary situation and creating an intense and intriguing twist. Beg for It isn’t a run of the mill second chance at love story.
Corinne worked as a waitress while making her way through college. Bitterness filled her as she saw young adults come in, ordering big meals and leaving half of the food to be thrown away, all on their parent’s dime, while she was watching every penny she spent. There she met Reese, a young man who dressed in a very questionable style but had eyes that melted her soul and showed an appeal to Corinne while she worked. Soon he became her “boy” as she was the Dom in their relationship. Unfortunately a misunderstanding led to a fight that ultimately ended what they had together.
After many years of longing for her “boy”, she now finds herself alone in the house, divorced, mother to two children she is now sharing with her ex-husband and his new family, a mortgage to pay and the company she works for is about to go under. Life is nothing like she had dreamed it would be. Lonely and stressed, she finds that there may be hope for her job, if this wealthy businessman buys the company and restructures it.
Reese hadn’t committed to any woman after Corinne. She was the one or him, he has always known that, but the guilt and shame of the break up prevented him from making any moves. After all of these years, to find her again, could be the second chance he has prayed for. Unfortunately, even though both are single, the timing isn’t on their side. He also has to consider, the way in which he found her, could be the very reason he can’t have her. Desire and logic become mortal enemies and they are going to have to figure out a solution.
I found this to be an interesting read and while it had raw emotions that made my heart break at times and celebrate love at other times, it was easy for me to put down and do other things while reading. The writing style was easy to read and sink into. When they let go and accepted their passion the magic was off the charts, the chemistry was powerful , but I grew bored during the periods of excuses as to why they couldn’t be together after some time.
I loved the concept of the power shift with Corinne being the Dom yet she was able to give control to Reese outside the bedroom. This book is the perfect example of how the choices you make in life, will direct your future, sometimes making you find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and often times making it hard to even survive the storm to see the rainbow. Megan Hart never disappoints her readers when it comes to plot that make you feel and think about life, choices and just how strong the heart can be when it comes to finding the one meant for you.
