If he can save her from her past, she could be his future.
Natasha Moon is running for her life. Though she’s managed to evade a forced mating, she arrives at a California safe house with no idea if the parents who entrusted her to an enigmatic Alpha are alive or dead.
The lone wolf who gets her to safety draws her like a magnet. But to him, she seems to be just another shifter in need. Just another female he thinks he can boss around.
Liam Grey avoids attachments at all costs. With his own demons to fight, he sticks to relocating shifters in trouble, not playing social worker. But when beautiful, fragile Natasha shows up desperate for more than just a place to stay, his inner wolf howls for a chance to give—and be—everything she needs.
Liam has his hands full keeping Natasha safe from other shifters, and from his own desire. But when Natasha’s ex-boyfriend tracks her down, Liam will have to push beyond the brink to keep her for himself—or lose her for good.
Promised at the Moon is a short, but sweet, story about a wolf shifter who is on the run because of an abusive ex-boyfriend. Natasha agreed to marry her boyfriend, Daniel, when they were teenagers. But, as she grew up and moved away to college, she realized how much of a bully Daniel was and broke things off. Too bad Daniel didn’t believe her and demanded she mate him after her 20th birthday. One night, he and his cronies showed up with weapons and Natasha’s mother pushed her out of the basement window with her emergency backpack and sent her away to safety. Not knowing if her parents were alive or dead, Natasha took on a new identity and created a new life for herself with the help of Liam Grey.
Liam is a lone wolf, an alpha, who helps other wolves escape dangerous situations. He does not like to become entangled with this charges, but he can’t help but want to go beyond the job that he is paid to do. He checks on the wolves he helps and makes sure they are adjusting. But, even he feels the attraction between his wolf and Natasha’s, even though he fights it. When Daniel tracks down Asha, Liam must decide if he is willing to fight for her or let her or let her go.
I really enjoyed this story and the dynamic of Natasha (Asha) and Liam. Liam holds back his feelings for the sweet Asha, but all she wants is to fit in and be accepted. He tries to protect her against falling in with what he thinks of as a dangerous pack of wolves, but they turn out to be allies and friends at the end. His protective alpha demeanor is sexy and sweet all at the same time. The action and suspense made me want to read more and find out where the story was going! I didn’t want to put it down!
Overall, this was a quick read that I enjoyed. As the first book in a shifter series, I think the author did a great job and set up a world I want to get to know more about.
