Complicated is book 2 in the Secrets and Lies series.  I felt like this book was a constant barrage of events, situations and discoveries.  Often it came so fast that I became confused and had to go back and reread a section so I could keep it all straight.  Mia and Ethan don’t start out on comfortable terms as you begin this part of the series, but soon you will understand what is going on with those two and the pieces to this puzzle begin to fall in place.

As you continue to read more secrets begin to surface, giving us a peek into Mia’s past and watching as she struggles to accept her real story and continue to move forward.  Mia and Ethan are going to have to deal with her lies, she has a lot to make up, a ton of explaining to do and very limited knowledge of the truth.  It was intriguing to watch her go through this and see the strong woman she is begin to crumble into the woman Ethan could fix.

The characters are very well written, their personality flows off the pages to the point you can visualize them.  The build up to important scenes is intense and yes she even has a few times the twists and turns will shock you and make you have to sit back and ponder how you missed that.  The writing style is smooth and can sweep the reader right into the scenes in most cases.

A few things I didn’t care for, which aren’t deal breaking problems, but I like for the intensity to be consistent.  I really didn’t feel like the real story started here till half way or more through the book.  The amount of sex was abundant.  I begin to feel like sex was used as a filler at times instead of it advancing the plot.  Another thing is for readers like myself, we read so many books between releases in a series, I would have appreciated a quick refresher on the important parts of book 1 so I could easily sit back and enjoy book 2.  It could have been as simple as Mia going over in her head why she is where she is when this book began.  Overall though, none of that stopped me from finishing the book and enjoying the ride.

If you love suspense, drama, relationship angst and lies being exposed and secrets uncovered, you will love this book.  I look forward to seeing what happens in book 3.
