An Ordinary Hero

Disclaimer MaleTAG

As a paramedic, Ryan Bishop has responded to his fair share of bizarre situations. However, he’s not prepared when he meets Phillip, a local man who keeps popping up to save the day. Everyone lauds Phillip as a hero, but he prefers to stay in the background, going so far as to refuse medical treatment.

Ryan is intrigued, not only by Phillip’s unassuming manner, but also by his ability to be in the right place at the right time. Ryan wants some answers and maybe even a date. What he gets is an unexpected part in Phillip’s origin story addtogoodreads_zps55cd15da16

An Ordinary Hero is a short, but good story about two men and how their different lives intertwine. Ryan is a paramedic who has seen a lot of odd things on the job.  He meets up with Phillip at the scene of an accident. Ryan tries to convince Phillip to get medical attention for his injuries, but he won’t go to the hospital.

Phillip is a book store employee, but he has a special “power”. He can sense danger, so he tries to stop it whenever he can. That’s how he ended up injured. However, he heals very quickly, which is why he refuses to seek medical care. How can he explain that to the doctors?

Ryan and Phillip eventually get together and Phillip tells Ryan the truth about himself. These two have an undeniable chemistry that made their sexy time HOT! But, where that was great, the backstory of Phillip’s powers was not told left me wanting to know more. Really, this could have been a great story if we knew how he came to get his powers and why. For that fact, it ruined the overall feel of the story and left me wondering why I should care about this story.
