Jaguar shifter and sniper extraordinaire, Jag, is tasked with his most difficult and dangerous mission to date—take out the man responsible for his spotter and husband’s violent death. Again.
Sonar, an ocelot shifter, is assigned as the new spotter to the surly and scowling feline alpha. He’s impressed with Jag’s skills but sees more beneath the surface: a grief-stricken and furious man on a trail of vengeance.
Together Sonar and Jag face perils and challenges that test their skills, resolve, and the budding feelings they have for each other. As the death toll rises, so does the heat between them. Their longings could give them the strength needed to persevere, but it also might force them to succumb and sacrifice everything. One thing’s for certain: someone won’t be making it back alive.
For me, this is really two books or stories. First we have the revenge.
This is Jag and Mark’s story even though Mark, Jag’s husband, is killed in the beginning.
Jag makes it his mission for revenge to kill the man that killed Mark. And when that mission is complete, then we jump three years. We find that Jag for the last three years has been still working, but never really healed over the death. So when he finds out that the man responsible is still alive, he once again has a single focus. This time he picks up another spotter, Sonar. He’s not happy about this, because he doesn’t want to be responsible for the death of another innocent soul.
As Jag and Sonar travel around the world on a case to re-intact revenge against the man that killed Jag’s husband, they start developing a friendship/bond. One that Jag is not happy about but Sonar is thrilled about. In the end Jag gets his nemesis. And story number two starts
As Jag and Sonar make it back to the base and start the healing process, they also start the living process. In which they both find the happier side to each other. With silly antics from Sonar and protectiveness coming from Jag. Also we see Jag, thawing and healing.
We meet the other team members and see how well they all work together. The sass, and ribbing and yet the fight to the death to protect one another no matter what. All great for such a close team.
This story starts out with tragedy Jag and his husband are tracking a target across the desert. Next thing Jag knows Mark his spotter and husband is dead. See Jaguar or Jag as he’s known is one of the best if not the best snipers, and they have been tracking another one who is like a ghost, Sandman by call tag. Jag stalks and finishes the job months later.
Jump 3 years later, Jag is still working as a sniper. Still alone when news comes about that Sandman is still alive, and they are sending Jag after him. What Jag is against is the addition of a new spotter, Sonar. Sonar is intrigued to work with the infamous Jaguar. Sonar expected Jaguar to be an alpha type personality, what he didn’t expect was for him to be an actual Jaguar Alpha shifter. He also didn’t expect to see a man walking the edge of a break down. Sonar is also a shifter, an Ocelot, which gives him the ability to understand the workings of Jags mind and help him deal with the stress he has lived with for the passed three years.
I absolutely adore Sonar, he is a Green Beret, but also has a sense of humor. You just have to laugh as he torments the jaguar in his ocelot form. Then he takes getting carried around like a kitten by Jag. Totally hilarious, it’s these breaks in the serious, and emotional drama that totally make it a great story. Jag is so serious that without Sonar he would have been lost, the emotional toll was too much. At times I just wanted to cry for Jag, then Sonar would do something completely silly you just had to smile. This story has all the action you could ask for, plus the human touch for anyone who loves the military type family. I hope that we see more from this group!
