Fire and Water (Carlisle Cops #1) by Andrew Grey

Officer Red Markham knows about the ugly side of life after a car accident left him scarred and his parents dead. His job policing the streets of Carlisle, PA, only adds to the ugliness, and lately, drug overdoses have been on the rise. One afternoon, Red is dispatched to the local Y for a drowning accident involving a child. Arriving on site, he finds the boy rescued by lifeguard Terry Baumgartner. Of course, Red isn’t surprised when gorgeous Terry won’t give him and his ugly mug the time of day.

Overhearing one of the officer’s comment about him being shallow opens Terry’s eyes. Maybe he isn’t as kindhearted as he always thought. His friend Julie suggests he help those less fortunate by delivering food to the elderly. On his route he meets outspoken Margie, a woman who says what’s on her mind. Turns out, she’s Officer Red’s aunt.

Red and Terry’s worlds collide as Red tries to track the source of the drugs and protect Terry from an ex-boyfriend who won’t take no for an answer. Together they might discover a chance for more than they expected—if they can see beyond what’s on the surface. addtogoodreads_zps55cd15da16 Listening to Andrea LeeTAG

This is a story about finding self growth, being self aware and learning to love, again. Red is a local police officer, that during his last year of high school was in a horrible car accident that killed his parents and permanently scared him physically and mentally. Now in his thirties he resigned himself to a lonely life of all work and no play, just not wanting to have to deal with all the pitting comments and looks from everyone knew he meets. Until he meets Terry, Terry is a younger, hotter and self absorbed as anyone can get. But as soon as these two meet, you can really feel the connection. Even though they both are fighting it, you can’t fight fate. The when the ex boyfriend show up on the scene and starts making Terry’s life miserable and Red, jumps into possessive mode, watch out. The match making Aunt and BFF is also a nice touch. I liked that we incorporated the night club from Bronco Boy’s into the story and making Bull friends. And having both of those stories/series involving drugs and higher up in the drug food chains, I wonder if we are getting a grand finale with a drug lord show down?
