You have had several careers. Although it may seem as if I’ve had several careers, all my adult life the foundation of my work has centered around reading and writing. As a TV News reporter and a Radio News reporter, reading and writing is essential. I have been fortunate that I’ve been blessed to be able to use my God-given talent to put pen to paper and educate, and entertain people.
Besides writing, which has been the most rewarding: I think my work in news has been just as rewarding as writing. With News, I’m able to touch people in a different way, but the foundation of being a storyteller is still relevant.
Often, you write about timely subject matters. Do you thick art imitates life? It’s only natural that art imitates life. As humans we are often touched by what happens to others. In many cases I write about subject matters that I feel passionate about. Sometimes the most unbelievable stories are inspired by real life and those are the ones I enjoy allowing my imagination to run wild with.
You are always pushing the general themes envelopes. What other themes do you want to tackle. Believe it or not, I often tackle whatever strikes me as odd, injustice, or subjects that seem hard to believe but they’re real. I usually only need a simple thought or idea to spark my interest and I take it from there.
Describe your writing style. I’m not sure I have a particular writing style. It all depends on the story I’m trying to tell. Although I tend to be a creature of habit, when it comes to writing, I try not to adhere to any boundaries. That means I’m bound to come up with something different in each book.
Describe the two central characters in this book. The two central characters in Somebody Has to Pay are Dani and Arlene. Both are women who feel they deserve child support payment for different reasons. Dani knew Keeling didn’t father her child, but named him anyway and wants to keep receiving payments from him. Arlene was hired as a nanny, she had an affair with the husband who went back to his wife and when he dumped her, she tried to use their child as a pawn to get what she wanted.
