Trevan Bean has a job that’s going from illegal to frightening, a boyfriend who may not be in his right mind, and a guardian angel who might actually be evil incarnate. Add to that the reappearance of his boyfriend’s estranged family, death threats, kidnapping, and the struggle of saving money to realize a dream, and Trevan has a lot on his plate. But Trevan is up to the challenge: he promised Landry a happily ever after, and Landry’s going to have it if it kills him!
It just might.
Landry Carter was a broken doll when they met two years ago but has grown into a partner who can stand at Trevan’s side… most of the time. Now that Trevan’s life just got scary—and Landry just got himself kidnapped—Trevan has to hope Landry’s love stays strong through this newest challenge, because the happily ever after won’t happen if Trevan has to go it alone.
This author is always hit and miss for me. So when I do decide to get something either audio or read, I’m always a little nervous.
Unfortunately, this fell a little short in my opinion. Trevan see that the relationship is not healthy and co-dependent but he also doesn’t care, he loves Landry and that’s all that matters. He knows that Landry just needs a firm hand and structure. Landry probably has some un-diagnosed disorders and for sure is crazy jealous of anyone that gets near Trevan. Yet, both have managed to keep it going for two years, start a business for Landry and Trevan in a shady bookie business that he tells Landry he’s getting out of, but really is not and doesn’t want too. All very unhealthy and really unbelievable.
I liked Trevan as a character, and I liked his friend Connie. I liked these two together. Landry, I couldn’t like and didn’t like with Trevan. I just kept thinking, wow, these two are dynamite and not in a good way.
The second half of the book, when Landry goes home and the sub plot happens the story actually picks up. Becomes a little more interesting. But not enough to save my opinion of the two main charaters.
The narrator, Caleb Dickinson did a great job and is probably what saved this one for me.
