Chase has shown their talent for intertwining the facts and characters to give a spellbinding story.

The emotional distress Toby feels when Jensen is away climbing Mt Everest is so real that you feel like you are with Toby.  Toby is worried about the chance of injury, the chance Jensen not coming back home and just going on to the next mountain.

Jensen loves Toby with all he is.  He also needs the high he gets from pitting himself against nature. He is getting to a point where he is missing Toby to much when he is gone for months at a time.  Jensen has already agreed to climb K2 after this one, then he is done.

Before he leaves for K2 Toby and Jensen get married, and agree to settle down with no more trips away from home after this climb.  There are the normal problems with all climbs, Jensen reaches the top of K2 and works his way back down.  The next thing he knows he is in a hospital, Toby by his side.

This has all the key elements of a great book. It has all the technical facts to make you feel you are on the mountain freezing, short of breath with your muscles failing with fatigue.  She is a master with emotional turmoil so that you are with Toby as he struggles with fears and his personal self-esteem issues.  As Toby pulls himself together you actually feel as if you are with him the whole time.  A wondrous experience, and must read.
