An accident, a chance encounter, a thought blurted out, a boat blown off course, a change in direction that suddenly runs into the line of fire – the smallest misstep can change everything. These foolish encounters are the moments around which lives pivot and sometimes spin out of control. Join us for tales of imprudent choices and bad decisions that can lead just as easily to hilarity as they can to tragedy.
Foolish Encounters is a quirky MM anthology filled with stories from different genres. Each author told a tale – some contemporary, some sci-fi, paranormal, and more. As with any anthology, not every story will be for every reader. But, there is enough variety in this one to make it worth reading.
The two stories that I enjoyed the most were A Message from the Home Office by Angel Martinez and Well Hello, Eight Eyes by Tali Spencer. A Message from the Home Office features a cobra shifter named Sissal who has been on Earth for a while and his newly arrived assistant, Rcrred. They are both on Earth to spy on humans and report back to their plant. I died laughing when I read the shower scene – Sissal only climaxes when he sings!! The way this story played out was fun and funny to read.
Well Hello, Eight Eyes is about a man named Tanner who takes a wreath out on to Lake Michigan every year in memory of a past lover who died. This year, a terrible November witch storm washes him up on to Spider Island and he wakes up surrounded by the residents of the island. Cory takes him in, but he is a shy, quite, innocent guy who has a secret. As predicted, Tanner finds out the island, and Cory’s, secret and the people of Spider Island have to figure out what to do about Tanner. I love how adorable Tanner and Cory are (and ADORE Cory’s character!!) with each other. This was such a fantastic story!
If you like to read MM stories, you really should grab this anthology and give it a chance.
