Audrey Beacon is a winner. Because of her slogan writing ability, she’s won a fabulous vacation – one which only the rich and famous get to experience. It’s a big leap for her; she’s a small town girl, in a dull dead-end job; she’s never had an adventure. Nevertheless, she accepts the prize and is whisked away to a fabulous cruise ship and then the prize: a RAVE – a dream-generated reality adventure. She picks a time-travel RAVE, and goes to 1850s Nebraska.
While in her old West adventure, Audrey meets White Star Smith, an Native American man who has little tolerance for undisciplined females. He’s not hesitant to show his displeasure in order to help Audrey improve her attitude and behavior. Audrey feels totally free to let go for the first time in her controlled, unadventurous life, because of course White Star isn’t real. In short order, Audrey is in love.
Coming back to the real world is tough, and gets harder when Audrey realizes that White Star might actually be a real person. So what was he doing in Audrey’s RAVE? That was not part of the deal!
The Winner is a pretty interesting book. Audrey has won a dream vacation—a time travel experience to 1850’s Nebraska. While there, she meets White Star Smith, who has no place for undisciplined women in his life. You can see where this is going. The question is: can Audrey leave the fantasy behind or will she seek out the real man she has fallen for?
This story flowed really well, and the pace kept me reading. I thougth the way it was written really helped me to imagine everything in my head and the plot was wildly creative, which is a rare thing these days. Of course, the romance and sex aspect of the story was very steamy and good as well, as were the spanktacular spankings. I think this was a really great book and I’m excited to read the next book in the series!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Charlotte Darrell is ugly, scarred and damaged both inside and out. Her only hope is to buy a Romantek dream vacation and hope that their rejuvenation process can heal her horrid blemish and restore her life back to what it was before her accident. But her virtual reality dream isn’t all she expected.
Rex Boyd is a counter cyber-terrorism expert, working for Romantek. The company is aware that someone is trying to break into their operations and terrorize paying customers. Rex hopes to protect one of the most vulnerable, the rich and influential Marie Carthage.
Once in the dream, fighting the terrorist who has gotten access to Romantek’s system, Rex finds the situation confounded by Charlotte’s presence. Is she a paying customer like Marie, or is she part of the terrorist’s network, there to do harm to Marie and start a firestorm of lawsuits that would bankrupt Romantek? And how will he ever reconcile his feelings for her with his suspicions?
Book two in the Romantek series was pretty awesome. Charolotte has booked her dream vacation in order to help her heal both inside and out. But her virtual vacation turns out to be more real than she signed up for. Rex is an cyber-terrorism expert and through working for Romantek he is trying to find who it is that break into their operations. He doesn’t count on Charlotte being a part of the deal either.
This is a story of romance and danger, and I found myself really into it. Romantic sci-fi is rarely done well, but when it is this is what you get! I loved Rex and Charlotte and thought the story was very hot and very well done. What is real? What isn’t? I don’t think I could even tell sometimes. That left me turning each page not really knowing what was going to happen next and that really knocked my bookworm socks off!
Charlotte was an interesting character too. I thought that her personal journey was fun to go along with. She has a bit of a tragic past and meeting up with Rex, even in virtual reality, was titillating. Or, Captain Rex, I mean. Pirates? Oh yes! It made me really wish that we could take virtual reality vacations.
I really liked this second book in the series.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Willow Camber wants to get away from it all. Her business has taken over her life, and none of the men she’s dated recently want her as a person rather than as a mega-corp. Her vacation plan is a time-travel, virtual reality trip into a film noire mystery–Bogie and Bacall writ large and in color- -so different from the twenty-second century life she currently leads.
Eddie Reston needs a break from his hectic life, away from his nagging ex-wife. His passion is old novels about hard-boiled detectives of the 1950s. A Romantek virtual reality vacation is just the ticket for a guy like him, more an early Charles Bronson than a Cary Grant.
When Willow and Eddie meet to solve a murder mystery, their attraction is instant, even though Willow sometimes needs active correction. But Romantek forbids them to give away their true names during the vacation, so they can’t pair up in their own century. They struggle to find a way, but it remains elusive. Can Eddie and Willow cheat the Romantek system and set up a real life meeting, or will their new found love be lost when reality intrudes?
The third series in the Romantek series, this book did not disappoint. Willow is looking for a getaway, and what better place than a virtual reality film noire mystery? Eddie is looking to getaway too, and when he and Willow meet in order to solve a murder, the sparks fly. They are confined by the virtual reality agreement not to exchange their real names, but they find soon enough that their pull to each other can’t be overcome. Can they make it work in real life too?
Having read the other two books in this series, I was really pleased to see that this book was not at all formulaic . Series tend to follow the same basic pattern, but this one was a really fresh take on the whole virtual reality vacation thing. Eddie is an awesome alpha, and someone that I would love to get to know in real life too! The time period that this takes place in was really fun to read about too.
Overall, I really enjoyed this installment of the series. It was well written and fun, not to mention steamy. I can’t wait to read more!
