About the author -Antoinette Villelli Candela
Antoinette Candela is a little shy with a larger than life personality. Suffering from Peter Pan syndrome, she refuses to grow up. She finds inspiration for her writings from everyday life, through her fun and quirky interactions with friends and family and the drama that never ceases to disappoint.
One thing is for certain, Antoinette lives by her own rules. As a Bostonian she loves the Yankees and is proud to wear her “I Love Derek Jeter “T-shirt. You can catch Antoinette on the beach soaking in the rays, but when the rumble of the thunderstorm rolls in, she’s curled up with a book or tapping away on her keyboard.
Mother, Writer, Reader, Lover of Music and all things learning, Antoinette is the charismatic author of Breaking Elle.
How is it that the one person who you have avoided is the same person who could give you true happiness?
When Elle Bennett meets Reed Austin she can’t deny the attraction. She discovers that certain people come into your life who make you question everything that you’ve ever believed about love and life. Will she risk everything for something exciting and dangerous or will she choose what is familiar and secure?
Reed Austin isn’t looking for love when he moves to Boston. The distance was supposed to help him escape the trouble he left behind. Once he meets, Elle, everything changes. Reed can’t figure out why he’s drawn to Elle, but one thing is certain – he needs her.
Passion. Betrayal. Solace. Confusion. Desperation.
Love and life are not simple and emotions and relationships are tested. Will attraction be enough or will their secrets and past keep them apart?
Well, I wasn’t any good with geometry, but this book isn’t a love triangle…it’s a love trapezoid. How does one seemingly innocent girl find herself in such a pickle? I guess you’ll have to read to find out!
Elle is your average 22 year old girl who basically has very little self-awareness. Not that that’s a bad thing really, but how you can overlook the very obvious (and bit obnoxious) overtones of your best friend being in love with you and pretty much saying so every 5 seconds (Tyler), forgive a boyfriend who has done some less than stellar things during the course of your relationship (Cane) and then meet another blazingly hot and mysterious man with whom you have an instant connection and then question it the whole time (Reed) is really beyond me. She doesn’t even seem aware that she’s beautiful. Hello! Clue phone’s ringing, pick it up – it’s for you, Elle.
I’m not bashing this book at all, because I quite enjoyed it. It’s a journey of self-discovery in a way, not just for Elle, but for Reed too. Reed has a lot of skeletons in his closet. What’s really great about it is that you get the dueling point of view between Elle and Reed over the course of the story, of which I’m always a fan. I like to know what the man is thinking, and I think it adds a lot to the story. I also liked the slow build of the relationship between Elle and Reed. I’m a sucker for the friends-to-more storyline.
I did feel in points that things seemed to come out of nowhere, and other moments that felt hasty. There were literally moments where I had to stop and go back and make sure I read it right because I was all like “Whaaaat?”, and not necessarily in a good way. I don’t want to include any spoilers, but as a steward to our dear followers I will say that this book has a cliffhanger. I get why it did, and I will read the next book, but some people I know some aren’t really down with that. So, consider yourself warned!
Overall, this book kept me interested. Plus, the sexy times scenes are very well done, so two thumbs up there! Even with some of the “WTF” moments, I still enjoyed it. A solid 3.5 star read for me!
