Remembering Love Promo Post! 1

When all is lost, how do you remember love?
When her beloved foster parents pass away, Holly discovers a past both shocking and heartbreaking: the murder/suicide of her biological parents on the South Pacific island of Pitcairn, famous for the HMAV Bounty mutineers. Travelling to a home she does not remember, Holly reconnects with long-lost childhood friend Jack. An old friendship quickly becomes more…until a dark secret is uncovered.
Will joyous love remembered become heartbreak? Can she find out the truth before someone else is hurt?
Jack whistled happily as he entered the house and closed the door with a jaunty back kick. He’d just dropped of Holly at her place and was already looking forward to seeing her again tonight for dinner. The moment he’d seen her yesterday morning something had changed in his life. It was as if he’d been holding his breath for years, the sight of her finally reminding him to exhale.
Whew, he thought, I feel like she’s hit me over the head with a brick. I can hardly think straight.
With a bounce in his step he walked down the hall into the kitchen where he dumped the picnic basket and cooler on the bench. The house was silent and empty. The quiet was a bit unnerving.
Usually at this time of day Dad and Masie would be nattering, ensconced in their favorite chairs in the lounge. “Masie? Dad?”
“Out here, Jack!” Masie called from the garden out the back. Emerging onto the sun drenched back porch, he found the two busy podding wild beans, splitting the strong smelling pods with
their fingernails, and scooping the tasty green beans out into a large ceramic bowl, discarding the pods into scrap buckets for the chickens. Masie’s aged, lined hands worked quickly, splitting and discarding three or four pods to James’ one.
Jack pulled up another chair next to his father and pulled the half-full basket of un-podded beans over. This was a time consuming chore he hated, but loved the resulting dinner accompaniment.
Wild beans with coconut milk—yum! He thought as his belly yowled agreement. I’ll take some over with us to Holly’s tonight.
